Welcome!

I'm Brenda Garneau, and I'm running to be your Ward 5 Alderman. I want to bring new ideas to the Board of Aldermen and focus on what matters most to our community: your safety, your concerns, and your needs. As someone who has lived in Nashua all my life, I understand how our city has changed and what it needs now. For example, I would work to establish a regular town hall forum where residents can voice their concerns and help shape community initiatives. Furthermore, I propose implementing traffic calming measures in high-risk areas to improve pedestrian safety. I promise to listen, stay involved, and make sure your voice is heard. I am not running as a politician, but as your neighbor who cares about making a difference, and together, we can build a stronger future for Ward 5.

Mission Statement.

My mission is to serve Ward 5 residents with transparency, fiscal discipline, and practical solutions. I will work to strengthen neighborhood safety, ensure efficient spending of tax dollars, and always prioritize our residents over politics. I invite you to join me in this effort: reach out, share your ideas, and vote for me to be your Ward 5 Alderman! To empower and engage our community further, I encourage residents to participate by joining advisory groups, attending listening sessions, and getting involved in neighborhood initiatives. Your involvement is key to shaping the future of Ward 5, and I am committed to providing multiple avenues for you to contribute your voice and ideas.

Why am I running? I’ve lived in Nashua my entire life, and this community has had a profound impact on me. My husband and I raised two families here, and I attended Rivier College, which helped me build both my family and our business. I want to give back by ensuring every resident’s voice is valued and heard the way that they should be. As Nashua changes, I believe new voices are needed in city government, and I’m ready to help lead that change within our Ward. I am running to bring energy, openness, and accountability to City Hall while protecting the quality of life that makes Nashua such a special place to call home.

What Else?

If elected, I pledge to:* To ensure I am easily and readily accessible to all Ward 5 residents, I plan to hold regular office hours and attend neighborhood meetings. I will also ensure that I respond promptly to emails and any correspondence, so no concern goes unheard.* Support fiscal responsibility by investing in essential and necessary city services, ensuring that taxpayer money is used wisely. This includes prioritizing key services such as police protection to keep our neighborhoods safe, fire services for emergency response, and road maintenance to improve transportation infrastructure. By focusing on these fundamental areas, we can ensure that resources are allocated effectively and that Ward 5 continues to thrive as a community.* Preserve the character of Ward 5’s neighborhoods while encouraging smart and balanced growth. This means supporting local small businesses, ensuring they thrive and contribute to our local economy. Additionally, I will focus on protecting our valuable green spaces, as these areas are crucial for community enjoyment and environmental health. By doing this, we can maintain the intrinsic charm of Ward 5 while allowing for thoughtful development that benefits all residents.* Promote transparency and accountability within the city government. I will publish monthly summaries of city meetings and outcomes, making them easily accessible to residents. Additionally, I will be available to answer any questions or address concerns regarding these publications after their release. These steps will help build trust and reassure you that I am committed to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout my term.
